I followed a very different approach than what most PMP Expert will suggest, honestly, it may not be a good model for aspirants. However, this will assure you that you can pave your own way rather than following what everyone is telling you to. And will help you to understand there is not just single way for clearing PMP in first attempt and that too; easily!

  • I never read single page of PMBOK
  • I cannot name all Processes, still
  • I had not mugged the ITTO
  • I didn’t have any timeline in mind as to “2 months time and study 2 hours daily and solve 10 mock tests”

“IT TOOK ME 8 MONTHS TO CLEAR”

yes 8 Months! most people do not wait that much. For me, the idea was not just to pass the exam but to be worthy manager.

1. I went through the Udemy course (by Kory Pearman) very casually just to wet my toe. I did NOT make any notes or tried to mug up any info.

JUST SIMPLY WENT THROUGH COMPLETE COURSE CASUALLY

2. I read one chapter Rita Mulcahy and then same chapter from Headfirst.

3. IMP: What I read from Rita and Headfirst, I applied it all in my project. All documents, all techniques etc whether Delphi, brainstorming, Ishikawa – EVERY one of them. Then I started going through the notes again 15 days before exam.

DURING THE EXAM

  • I attempted all the 200 Questions in one go in 140 minutes
  • I marked 80 questions for review
  • Then took a break of 7 minutes
  • Then in second go I attempted all questions and left 7 questions
  • Stretched on my chair for 5 minutes
  • In third go I completed them all

You all may have your own separate stories, I sincerely hope your stories are more successful than mine. This journey of mine just want to present an evidence that we all have our different ways and pace. And it is absolutely fine. Do not burden yourself with anyone’s opinion. And this non conventional approach helped me in clearing PMP in first attempt against what all the PMP gurus are suggesting. So, dear aspirants – please pave your own way and do not try to fit into other people’s narrative. PMP is not tough, it’s tricky so just try to solve it your way.
